2. Accessing vPlanner

vPlanner is deployed as a ClickOnce installer package via a web link that you receive through email from support@vplannerapp.com when your account is first created.  The same email will include the vPlanner Site name, your Username, and a temporary Password.  You will need all three to login.
For reference, the vPlanner-V5 installer link is: https://www.vplannerapp.com/app/v5/publish.html

Installing and Using vPlanner

The Microsoft ClickOnce installer technology, allows the application to be deployed via the web and installed on Windows systems without requiring administrative privileges. The application is configured to update automatically at startup, ensuring you always have the latest version.
To install vPlanner, simply click the link provided in the email you received. The application will download and install automatically. Once the installation is complete, the login screen will appear.
In the rare event that the installation fails, please contact your IT department as they may need to create a rule that allows vPlanner to download, install, and update itself.

System Requirements

vPlanner is optimized for Windows 11, which we highly recommend for the best performance and user experience. While vPlanner is also backwards compatible with Windows 10, some features may perform better on Windows 11.  The installation package includes all necessary components, including the latest version of .NET 8.
Any computer capable of running Windows 11 should meet the hardware requirements for vPlanner. For mega projects involving tens of thousands of tasks, we recommend using a high-performance computer. vPlanner takes advantage of advanced processor technologies and graphics acceleration to efficiently calculate and render complex plans.
You will also need a reliable and fast network for vPlanner to work properly.

A Note about Windows 11 and Taskbar Shortcuts

You can pin the vPlanner icon to your taskbar, but it’s important to do this the right way to avoid issues with automatic updates. Do not pin vPlanner by right-clicking the icon of the running application on the taskbar. This method is known to interfere with ClickOnce update checks due to a known Windows issue that Microsoft has not corrected.
Instead, follow these steps to pin vPlanner (or any ClickOnce application) correctly:
1. Locate the vPlanner shortcut on your desktop or in the Start Menu.
2. Right-click the shortcut.
3. Select "Show more options" (if you're using Windows 11).
4. Click "Pin to taskbar".
Following this method ensures that vPlanner continues to receive updates automatically without interruption.
